What's Cooking Premier!

Today is the Day! The first episode of What's Cooking (the Seattle episode) went live at 11am this morning,  Press Release Here.

UPDATE: I removed the embed because there is no way to turn off autoplay and it was driving me crazy! But CLICK HERE TO VIEW.

And below are some pictures from the launch party yesterday at the Allrecipes office downtown.  Here's a write up on the party on the Examiner.  I'd write more but I'm slammed today... Storm Playoffs are coming up and now that the What's Cooking ball is rolling, it means 1 new episode per week for the next 26 weeks!  Wish me luck.

I can't for the life of me get this picture to show up the correct way, and I don't want to spend any more time on it... so here ya go. tilt your head sideways.

Bobblehead Skits

This season we've got three bobblehead giveaway nights for the Storm so we made some video skits to promote them.  We shot these all on Media Day, so they were all incredibly rushed shoots, and I was basically working out the scripts as we were shooting (not something I'd recommend doing!) but miraculously they all turned out pretty good.  Here they are, in order...

SUE BIRD - The Bobbleheads Are Here.

SWIN CASH - Don't be Fan 4001.

LAUREN JACKSON - Collect All 3

All Eyes on the Jumbotron

I love this picture.  Coach Agler is talking, but look where everyone's eyes are!  The video will be up in a couple days, I'll embed it here once it's up.

UPDATE - Here's the video... it's weird how a video that I thought was going to be boring when I shot it, and I hardly spent any time on editing gets more attention than anything I've done all season!

What's Cooking?

I can finally talk about the new web series that I've been working on for months now.  It's called What's Cooking? and it's for allrecipes.tv, the new video site of allrecipes.com the biggest food website in the world. Click here to check out the press release on the launch of allrecipes.tv, which includes a promo video I edited.  Below is the trailer for What's Cooking?

Allrecipes.com is made up of user generated recipes, so the concept of What's Cooking is that we go to users' homes, and have them show us their recipes and tell us the stories behind them.  So instead of just seeing a recipe online and reading a description, this show allows the viewers to see where their favorite recipes comes from and hear the tips and tricks straight from the source.

Similar to shows like The Rotten Tomatoes Show on Current TV, or DiggNation on Revision3, What's Cooking is a great example of how web video can really help make the most out of UGC (user generated content), by filtering out the best of the best and packaging it into a more watchable or entertaining final product.

It's been a blast so far and we've only shot 2 episodes (they'll go up in July), pretty soon we start traveling the country and shooting more episodes with allrecipes users all over the US!

Oh, and I almost forgot... follow us on twitter!

CHS Wins Best Hyperlocal News Site Award

CHS (Capitol Hill Seattle Blog), has been selected by the Society of Professional Journalists as the best hyperlocal news site in the Pacific Northwest.  Although it's been a while since my last post I've been pretty regularly producing videos for the site for the past year and a half.  Congrats to editor Justin Carder who runs the site and produces most of the content.  And I'd like to think the videos maybe had a little something to do with it too!

Here's a video about CHS that I made way back in December 08.
